pandemonium shopping
i'm a lagger when it comes to tech. i try but really don't care that much, and REALLY don't like it when it ruins things that i used to love by bullying them away. but it's the world, and there's nothing to be done about it, unless i'm going to take luddite vows and live in some candle lit hermitage...nope~adapt i must. a little bit anyway. and if 2020 gave me anything at all it was gratitude for online shopping, something i'd avoided. online shopping is now it. we've been in and out of lockdowns since march, and the pandemic has completely wrecked my in-store shopping fun. my biggest problem (or second biggest problem, after not being able to spend hours in 2nd hand record stores) was how to buy used clothes via the internets. you can't feel them, you can't smell them, you can't see their true colours in a picture, and unless sellers give absolutely perfect measurements, you can't judge size by label...also instead of finding something gorgeous in a row of crap, you type in what you'd like-someone else has done all the work! it feels like cheating. and it costs a lot more, as it should, because a) someone else has done all the work b) hopefully cleaned it c) then photographed it d) also maintained their online shop e) then had to package it up AND go out into covid world to send it off to you with a nice card if you're lucky. at this point, i should be cut off from buying things online. the glut must end. but it's been a mood saver. any boost is very welcome.
here are a few things i've bought on etsy-i kept it local, only buying from canadian sellers. british columbia isn't local to ontario in real life, but let's not argue about that..
the lounge-a-rama robe dress thing💙
the lightweight cape poncho with bonus company name💛
this circus lady shirt was handmade from vintage fabrics. if i could sew, this is exactly the kind of thing i would make. i can't, so i'm glad she does~her stuff is so beautiful.
k, that's it for now, as i've nearly torn my hair out trying to lay this out in any coherent way-much respect to all the great bloggers out there who make this look easy✌
